Upon graduation from Most Holy Trinity High School in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and realizing he would not be playing for the Knicks anytime soon, Sal Ervolino turned to his second passion - cars! Sal became an entrepreneur with monies saved from working summer jobs. He rented a building with a parking lot and turned the space into a retail car and stereo facility named SALCO.
His mentor and best friend, Msgr. James Cooney from St. Mary’s Elementary School taught Sal how to drive in the 8th grade and assisted with his career. Msgr. Jim continued forwarding references of clergy and religious, including the vehicle coordinator for the entire Brooklyn Diocese, Msgr. Burke who referred to Sal as “his car guy”. With his attention strictly focused on religious individuals and entities, it became clear this was the start of his ministry.
The Sisters of Charity Halifax were his first community which led to Sal working with over 28 communities, selling and transporting nationwide. In addition to the descriptive and appropriate name change, Trinity Automotive Services, Sal represents various manufactures and vehicle types including vans, buses, trucks, handicap-accessible vehicles, and much more.
Throughout his career, Sal always finds time to give back - as CYO Coordinator and Coach for local parishes, co-founder of a unique program called “Good Guys” for children to compete at the same level within their sport, chairperson of various fundraisers, golf outings, and several school boards including the initial focus committee for DRVC entitled “Finding of Catholic Schools Understudy”. Today, he continues to coach (part-time) high school seniors in Florida.
Sal is proud and honored to have the opportunity to meet and form relationships with so many individuals including His Eminence, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, and other Bishops across the country and throughout various dioceses - having an office within the Chancery of the Archdiocese of New York and two on Long Island. He hopes to establish a team to continue and maintain his program and ministry while always being available 24/7 - and enjoying time with his wife Toni, children, and grandchildren.
