Sister Christine Sammons, OP ministers at St. Bernard Church in Levittown, New York where for the past 21 years she has coordinated the Parish Social Ministry Program. Working closely with the members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and Catholic Charities, she attempts to meet the varying needs of the members of the parish and community and to encourage parishioners to help support those in need.

Coming to St. Bernard’s involved a very steep learning curve, but for S. Christine, it has proven to be a sacred opportunity to enter deeply into the lives of those who help, and those whom she is privileged to help. S. Christine remembers that when she was hired in 2003, she would attempt to “be a blessing—benedicere.” In turn, she has been richly blessed to be a part of this wonderful parish and community!
