2025 Keynote Speakers
S. Margaret Galiardi, OP

S. Margaret's Bio:
Margaret is a Dominican Sister from Amityville, New York. Her ministries through the years have included teaching grade school, working in parishes, and coordinating programs for homeless persons. She spent almost a decade working at the Intercommunity Center for Justice and Peace in Manhattan while residing in a convent that was also a shelter for women who were homeless, battered, or released from prison and their children. She served as Theological Curriculum Coordinator for the lay leadership training program of the Diocese of Rockville Center and lived in community with undocumented persons at the Oscar Romero Inn and at Providence House with women and their children who were homeless, battered, or recently released from prison. She is a trained Spiritual Director and served as the Executive Director of the Spiritual Life Center in West Hartford, Ct.
In June 1995, Margaret was elected to the governing team of her Congregation as Director of Ministry. At the same time, she responded to an invitation to serve as the Co-Promoter of Justice for North America for the worldwide Dominican Order and, as such, served on the Dominican International Commission for Justice, Peace, and the Integrity of Creation, requiring extensive international travel.
Margaret has lectured nationally on ecological theology and spirituality, the “New Story and the Christian Story,” and the work of Thomas Berry. In addition, she has created numerous original retreats, workshops, and lectures in response to expressed needs. She has published two books: Encountering Mystery in the Wilderness: One Woman’s Vision Quest and Where the Pure Water Flows: The New Story of the Universe and Christian Faith. She has written for NCR’s Global Sisters Report.
Margaret spent the 2009-2010 year in silence and solitude, living with Trappist Sister-Monks in their monastery on the Lost Coast of Northern California in the Redwood Forest.
She has collaborated with Nancy Sylvester and the Institute for Communal Contemplation and Dialogue. Currently, Margaret offers spiritual direction/ accompaniment to both individuals and groups. She is available for directed retreats, spiritual direction, workshops, and lectures. She works together with other Sisters and Associates on the We Move Forward Together initiative of the Amityville Dominicans.
S. Ann Horn, OP

S. Ann's Bio:
Sister Ann entered the Amityville Dominicans, September 8, 1966. She has a BA from Molloy College, an M.A. from the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington, and a CAES from Boston Graduate School. Sister Ann has been serving mainly as a Director of Religious Education/Faith Formation for over 50 years in the Nassau and Suffolk County parishes in our Diocese of Rockville Center. Sister Ann specialized in teaching not only children but also their parents and other adults through what is now called the Order of Christian Initiation. She also included areas in the Diocesan Basic and Advanced Courses for Adults and Evangelization. She retired in June 2023.
Sister Ann is currently co-chair of the We Move Forward Together Committee of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville. WMFT is an exciting, growing adventure that propels our faith and spirituality electronically and in person, right to your home and your heart! Thanks to Sister Margaret Galiardi, Angela Belsole, and our whole WMFT Committee and presenters for making this all possible, and with the Grace of God, of course!
Angela Belsole

Angela's Bio:
A former member of the Amityville Dominicans, Angela has been an Associate since 2011. She has a BA in Theology and an MA in Spirituality and Spiritual Direction from Fordham University, as well as a certificate in fundraising from New York University. After working at Fordham for 17 years, she retired in September 2018.
Angela is currently a co-chair of the We Move Forward Together (WMFT) committee, an initiative of the Amityville Dominican Sisters. WMFT invites individuals and groups to connect with the Congregation through existing ministries and to explore the areas of spirituality, ecology, social justice and community building. Through various events and programs, we aim to spread the Dominican charism to others, inviting them to make new friends and create new partnerships to advance justice and truth for all.
Angela is also a long-time volunteer for Songcatchers, Inc., a nonprofit in New Rochelle, NY, that provides affordable access to high-quality music education for children and youth. She continues to help Songcatchers with managing and writing grant applications from her home in Connecticut and enjoys spending time with her family and playing with her five grandchildren.
