On November 17th, Harvest House celebrated its 40th anniversary with a special Mass at St. Edward the Confessor Church in Syosset, followed by a breakfast and a “Story to Inspire Your Soul.”

Harvest House’s mission is to seek to establish residences that are alternatives for independent seniors to live together in a community atmosphere.

Sister Peggy McVetty spoke to the crowds, “Forty years ago, Mary (Butler), Jeanne André (Brendel), along with Sister Catherine O’Shea and our since deceased Sister Kate McGrath shared a dream regarding the creation of a new housing alternative for elders-one that served as a ‘home away from home’. Thus, a crazy dream to some became a reality-not just one time but through three locations-Syosset, Lake Grove, and Floral Park.”
