It was an afternoon of sharing and caring at our Annual Tea sponsored at Carlin Hall on May 16th. Unique hat creations filled the room; finger sandwiches and tea were shared, smiles were “a plenty” and the constant care and consideration of Carlin Hall Volunteers made the day complete.
This is the second time we have hosted a high tea at the Motherhouse. It all began when Sister Kathleen Lindsey raved about a high tea she attended out East during the summer. When she told the volunteers, they said, “We can do that here!” For months, they rummaged through garage and yard sales purchasing boxes of china teacups, plates, and teapots. Last April, they hosted their first tea. This year, they continued the tradition: bringing table cloths and fancying the room. Sister Mary Anna Euring played the flute. There were 42 Sisters, five aides, and 11 volunteers who helped make it all happen.
“Let it be noted that these Carlin Hall volunteers over-extended ordinary hospitality. These wonderful people brought and served, cleaned up, and radiated a collective spirit of ‘desire’ that is, a desire to help our retired Sisters to store up one more very happy memory of an occasion of togetherness. Indeed, every moment was heartwarming and memorable,” wrote Sister Anne Toomey of the day. “God bless our Carlin Hall Volunteers for their continuous stream of benevolence and loving goodwill. You are remembered in our prayers!”
Thank you to our volunteers: Sheila Brengel, Rosemary Arena, Jenny Amendola, Ann Casey, Lucille Forelli, Dorothy Kerkovich, Diane Sheehan, Marie Cuozzo, and Linda Rosattie.
