Dominican Youth Bring Love and Charism March 8, 2017

Eight Dominican Young Adults and two Dominican Volunteers gathered at the Motherhouse with retired Sisters at the end of February for an informal discussion about preaching. In attendance was Andrew Abberton, former president of the Dominican Young Adults, USA, who recently returned from the 800th Dominican Jubilee conference in Rome. He shared a video from the conference called “Sent to Preach the Gospel.” It included a talk by Sister Luma Khudher, OP from Iraq, who gave a powerful reflection on the life of the Iraqi Sisters since ISIS overtook the country.

Following the video, Sisters were asked, “How do you Preach to those around you and how do they preach to you?” After the discussion, the group enjoyed cupcakes and cookies in honor of Valentine’s month. This wonderful afternoon was the latest in a host of recent get-togethers enjoyed by Sisters and young people. The interaction of multiple generations of Dominican charism has been a blessing and a grace for all who participate.
