Dominican Gala

Friday, October 25, 2019, 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM

The Sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville, NY will host their Annual Dominican Gala on October 25, 2019 at The Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, NY. Cocktails begin at 6:00 p.m followed by dinner and dancing.  This year’s Gala celebrates the Congregation, their partners in mission, and all that the future holds for us!

Historically, our St. Catherine of Siena Award has been presented to a Dominican Sister who personifies community service and dedication to humankind. However, as we look towards the future of the Congregation, we recognize and depend upon the importance of lay leadership in order to advance our mission and enhance St. Dominic’s vision.  This year we wish to honor the leaders of our four sponsored ministries: Elizabeth Keihm, Executive Director of Homecoming Farm, Gillian Kessinger, Executive Director of Opening Word, and Susan Nicoletti, Principal of St. Agnes Academic High School and Paul Wasser, CEO and President of Dominican Village.

Our 2019 Veritas Award recipient is Drew Bogner, PhD. As you know, Molloy College was founded by the Dominican Sisters in 1955 as a college for women. It became coeducational in 1982. Dr. Bogner assumed the presidency of Molloy in July 2000. Since then the college has reframed itself from a predominantly baccalaureate undergraduate institution into a comprehensive, graduate-degree granting institution, adding numerous masters’ programs and three doctoral programs. President Bogner will retire at the completion of his contract in June of 2020, capping a 20-year tenure that saw the advent of on-campus housing, expansion of the student body and the addition of numerous academic programs. The presentation of the Veritas Award at the Gala provides the Sisters with an opportunity to thank Dr. Bogner publicly for his work in making Molloy College one of the premier institutions of higher education on Long Island, and for ensuring that the mission of the Dominican Sisters continues to be the cornerstone of a Molloy education.

The Dominican Gala raises critical funds to support the ministries of the Sisters of St. Dominic.   For more information about tickets or how you can support the ministries of the Sisters of St. Dominic, please contact Mary Fuchs, Director of Advancement at (631) 842-6000 ext. 241 or mfuchs@amityop.org.
