The Bishop Iggy’s Project Hope, a non-profit organization whose mission is to share stories about Father “Iggy” to help keep his idea of H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Excel) alive, sponsored one of our Sisters on the St. Padre Pio Pilgrimage this September. The founder and one of its members, Angelo DiGangi, was educated by our very own S. Eva Mazzetta! In gratitude for his education, an invitation to sponsor a Sister on the St. Padre Pio Jubilee Year Pilgrimage was extended to the Congregation. Sister Carol Radosti, OP, who grew up in a family with great devotion to St. Pio, submitted her name, and she was selected to join the pilgrimage. Sister Beth McGarvey, OP, was able to join S. Carol on this pilgrimage as well.
With the assistance of a cane, walking stick, and collapsible stool, we were able to fully participate in this faith-filled journey, making friends and even meeting a Dominican along the way! The blessing of this journey was to witness the faith of those we traveled with and those we met on the journey. Those gathered in Rome for the jubilee year truly were a microcosm of our church. The emotions and deep belief when blessed with St. Pio’s relics are beyond words. Standing before the body of Carlo, a teen clad in blue jeans and sneakers, and just declared a saint, increased our hope for these times
