Days before Christmas, Newsday featured our own Sister Aimee Koonmen and Bethany House, celebrating 40 years serving the homeless.
Newsday quoted Sister Aimee, “The first human problem that Jesus experienced on this earth was homelessness. Mary and Joseph provided what they could, but there was no room at the inn. So they clothed him and fed him, but they were unable to really shelter him. And so many of our children now are in similar situations.” Last year, Bethany House provided 400 families with shelter!
