Sister Lenore Toscano, OP Honored March 27, 2017

Sister Lenore Toscano, OP was honored by Assemblywoman Kimberly Jean-Pierre (D-Babylon) with a 2017 Women of Distinction Award. Sister Lenore Toscano is the Executive Director of the OPening Word program which ensures that immigrant women are equipped with the resources necessary to obtain citizenship and employment and build a life here in our dear country.

“She deserves it,” said Sister Laura Helbig, the site coordinator for the Amityville program of OPening Word. “It’s our 25th anniversary this year and she has been in the program for 19 of the 25 years!” The program’s three sites in Amityville, Wyandanch and Huntington Station serve more than 300 women per year.

The OPening Word is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. There will be a Gala on Wednesday, April 26th at Cresthollow Country Club, Woodbury.
