St. John the Baptist HS turns 50! December 5, 2016

St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School in West Islip turns 50 this year – and the Dominican Sisters have been there every step of the way!

Currently, there are three Sisters still serving at St. John’s: Sister Marie Happ as the chairman of the science department; Sister Terry Gallagher as the Registrar and Sister Elizabeth McGarvey as a social worker.

The school celebrated its 50th Anniversary with a Homecoming and Alumni Reunion Weekend in October and “An Evening of Red and White” on November 19th.

Recent good news: the school now has a newly renovated $1.4 million library – made possible through the generous support of alumni and benefactors.
